Girl Farts Book Club?

I'll bite.
I'm battling clutter and chaos in my home. I'll join the club. :)
Oh, sweetie, it's all an illusion. I am SO not organized. Not anymore. I move things just to get them out of the way of Hurricane Bugbert, and then... I move them again later, or I forget where I put them, or... Well, here's an example.

Yesterday, I took out my sewing machine to whip up a quick blanket and pillow for The Bug. The sewing machine I'd never used before (it was my Grandma's). I realized I had put the box of stuff that goes with it, including the instruction manual, away somewhere out of The Bug's reach. And I have no idea where that somewhere is. I have searched high and low, but still haven't figured out what I did with it.

So yeah, I could do with some getting back on track. Maybe I can get organized again when we move... (stop lauging, it could happen!).

Four of us! We officially have a book club.

Post here when you've purchased a copy of the book.

I so need help with organization. I ordered the book from Amazon, should be here in two days!
Great, Elle! The HOUSE WORKS book focuses on organizing the household and I'm anxious to see what ideas it holds for us, but I also highly, highly recommend David Allen's book GETTING THINGS DONE. Like, highly. Can't stress that enough.

I added it to my books section, so it's easy to find.
Can I play?

L still has a ginormous pile of books and possessions in a garage in Portland, due to touch down in early 2007. Our apartment is blessed, yet I still have no fricking clue where it's all going to go. I'd like to contribute a little more than bringing him cider when he goes all handyman and starts building shelves.

Also? I spent 15 minutes this morning tearing the joint apart looking for a magazine that doesn't even exist.

Yeah.
Ha ha ha -- yeah, get yourself a copy of the book. You're in.

(I'll also recommend GETTING THINGS DONE to you, if you haven't read it already. Great for project management.)
After over two years at the Container Store, I could be a personal organizer. Working there has totally encouraged my anal retentive straightening skills.

My primary organization challenge is my inability to throw things away. I like to keep things for sentimental reasons, and then wind up with a bunch of useless crap that I periodically have to get rid of, or boxes full of shiny things that I can't even identify offhand.
That's one of the categories in House Works -- "The Sentamentalist," I think. I feel you. (I actually can relate to ALL of them -- the "I might need this someday" really hits home, though I know my biggest hurdle is the decision making thing.)
I really can't relate to this at all. As you know, I live in a state of perfect non-chaos, so this book may as well be written in Esperanto.
Smartass.

I will join but I'm nerd I am going to interlibrary loan it.

You're a wise and thrifty nerd, then. Huzzah!
